It all depends, of course, on the execution. I.e. none of these tropes might work for me if they're used in a way that at least to me feels wrong/clumsy/badly done, which can be a real turn-off to the overall story, and conversely, I might overlook a great deal of flaws in the overall narrative if the tropes I favour are done in a way that really ( Read more... )

In which we get to the Scouring of the Shire, so to speak, or to the Grey Havens. I'm so going to miss this show, but this was a worthy finale, and it ended at the right time, neither overstaying its welcome or being cancelled before it could fly.
